Tractor Toddler Backpack

This little guy is heading onto a plane and flying all the way to Australia. This is the first tractor design that I have ever done and I can't wait to see little H wearing his new backpack.

The tractor on the left was my first design but H's mom and I both liked design #2 better.

A lot of thought goes into the design process - my rough sketches are just the beginning.  Once I get approval on the design, I then make the lines a little straighter, the wheels become rounder, and work towards a final design.

Then we play around with it in colour to make sure it still looks good.

Whenever it's a "first", I spend a little bit more time asking questions

Once I have approval, I begin sewing

At the final checkpoint, if Mom says "go!", then I sew the rest of the backpack together to get this:

It has two pockets on each side and a pocket on the inside.  This time the lining is a solid brown with dark brown piping.

Quilted bottom (or "bum" as my little one likes to call it)

And here's the back view

And it's a wrap!  Off to work on a new design... this time, it's an animal.

Yellow Toddler Backpack - Dump Truck and Bulldozer: So Happy Together...

These little backpacks are ready for pick up.

I've made these before.  The bulldozer was originally designed for Baby Bunny and the dump truck has been popular amongst the little guys.  If you click on the links above, you can see more details behind the bags.

We had some fun taking pics of these ones.  Baby Bunny and I thought of some things that two little boys (cousins and perhaps best friends) would do.  So we set off to take some pics.

Hanging out in the kitchen...

Sitting on our favourite rock

Playing on the swings

Chilling on the deck

Riding the school bus

Playing firefighter

Trying to balance on the teeter totter swing

And when they are too tired to play outside, it's time to come in and watch some Busy Town.

It was nice letting Baby Bunny help.  He's already dying to use my sewing machine but was willing to settle for being my model.

Until next time!

It's September already!

The days are motoring over here! September always feels like a blur because of labour day weekend + baby bunny's birthday + the start of school.

Bunny is no longer a baby but a big boy!  My Mom made him a minion cake (we finally watched DM1).

I made a ton of cookies.

I also sewed a Happy Birthday banner.

We got new windows to replace the really old ones at our new house (hoping this is the last major home reno).

I was super diligent about packing kiddo's first school lunch.  Obviously I gave him too much food.  I just didn't want him to go hungry.  Well, it turns out that kiddo gets only 1 recess + 1 lunch so most of it came back.  I was very proud that he ate his veggies and fruits instead of the cookies!

There's probably a ton of stuff I've forgotten but between doing our own home renos + sewing more custom backpacks + taking care of the kids, it's all a blur!

We're on Disney Baby!

Some of you may know that I've had to stop writing for the past 8 months because we sold our home, bought another one, moved in with our parents, and then finally made it into our home.

Recently, I was contacted by a blogger from Disney Baby, asking if she could feature my Canada Post Mailbox made from a Pampers box on the Disney Blog.  Uh... that's a no-brainer.  Of course!

So here it is!

Until next time!
